This album is dedicated to Bix Beiderbecke, a talented trumpet player in the 1920's. Geoff Muldaur's album revisits sounds of the 1920's-1930's jazz era, bringing together several talented artists to supplement this tribute.
The last song, titled "Clouds," credits lyrics to Rufus Wainwright, Linda Thompson, and Dick Connette, with music co-written by Bix Beiderbecke. Vocals are provided by Geoff Muldaur.
While Geoff Muldaur provides most of the vocals on this project, additional vocals are provided by Martha Wainwright, Loudon Wainwright III, and The Futuristic Chamber Group. Martha performs "There Ain't No Sweet Man That's Worth the Salt of My Tears" as well as "Singin' the Blues," while Loudon contributes vocals on "Bless You Sister." Loudon is backed by the Harmony Girls, which includes Martha Wainwright as well as Geoff Muldaur's daughters. Finally, the track "Take Your Tomorrow (And Give Me Today)" contains leads vocals by Geoff Muldaur and backing vocals by The Harmony Boys, which includes Loudon Wainwright III. Don't you just love projects that bring all the Wainwrights together?!
